First Cheese Night

Sunday, November 6th was our first cheese night. Hopefully not the last!
Here are the cheeses we tried.

The above cheese was a gift to Melanie from someone in Washington state. It aged in her fridge for 5 months, just waiting to be used. A hard sheeps cheese, it had an almost Parmesan like flavour.

Cashel Blue was Melanie's personal pick. I found it to be a softer flavoured blue with none of the acidity that tends to turn me off the Danish Blues.

Le Fougerus is a French, soft, white cheese made from raw cow's milk and covered with fern for flavouring. This one was my pick and I really enjoyed the light creamy flavour.

Roaring 40's was the cheese I brought for Rob. It is an Australian blue, but slightly Danishy in flavour (not really my cup of tea).

Sally brought the next cheese, Bleu de Laqueuille Yes, we are fixated on our blue cheeses!

The next cheese is yet to be named. Mo brought it and unfortunately, I was unable to find the label. The flavour was vaguely reminiscient of Talleggio, but nowhere near as intense.

Trevor's pick was Red Dragon, a Welsh Cheddar, blended with mustard seeds and ale. It had a nice zingy bite to it.

Finally, Sally's second cheese of the night, L'edel de Cleron. Another deliciously rich, melting, brie-like cheese.
After tasting all these cheeses, we had to work them off with a game of Cranium.
